Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted of murdering George Floyd, is facing , new complaints that accuse him of using extreme force , in a similar manner in another event.
Patricia” Patty” Dawn Welch Day , filed a lawsuit against Chauvin and fellow Minneapolis Officer Ellen Jensen on Tuesday  , over actions they took during an incident on January 17, 2020, KARE 11 reported.
Day acknowledges that she had been drinking that day when a snowbank sat in her car and a review of a motorist who appeared to be intoxicated called 911.
However, she claims that when the police arrived, she was “violently yanked” from her car and tore her to the floor, causing her to bone her teeth and suffer multiple wounds before being handcuffed.
” I was no resisting. I was not being belligerent”, Day told KARE 11. I merely attempted to show them that my car’s fire was free of tips.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Day claims Chauvin allegedly pressed his leg into her back while restricted, using the same technique he would eventually employ to snuff George Floyd’s life.
She claimed Jensen failed to engage in the incident, claiming that the Minneapolis Police Department ignored body cam footage, allowing the officers to avoid punishment.
Day is now seeking$ 9 million in punitive damages from from Chauvin, Jensen and the ministry, along with unknown punitive damages
For his 2021 convictions for second-degree death, third-degree death, and second-degree murder in Floyd’s dying, Chauvin is now serving more than 22 years in prison.
Last November, he was  , stabbed 22 days by another criminal,  , getting , released from the hospital the next month.
