In an effort to halt the release of the film, former president Donald Trump’s lawyers apparently sent a cease and desist letter to the producers, warning them against pursuing a private distribution deal.
The existence of the email was first , confirmed by two unknown solutions to Variety,  , while passages were obtained by Deadline.
Nothing in the May 22 text to director Ali Abbasi and writer Gabriel Sherman apparently says,” The Movie presents itself as a scientific history of Mr. Trump, but nothing could be further from the truth.”
The email continues:
It is a cocktail of lies that constantly denigrates President Trump and amounts to direct foreign interference in American elections. We will be compelled to pursue all appropriate legal remedies if you do n’t immediately cease and desist from promoting and disseminate this libelous farce.
You have until May 27, 2024, to reply by submitting your consent to completely satiate this requirement. President Trump deposits all right”.
The Apprentice, which had its world debut this week at the Cannes Film Festival,  , was freely funded and produced outside the Hollywood studio method, mainly through foreign firms as well as some local investors.

Iranian-born director Ali Abbasi has stated that he hopes his film will be released in the United States before the November presidential election, particularly during the forthcoming political debates.
The show’s producers responded to the cease-and-desist text in a statement that Variety received.  ,” The movie is a good and sensible portrait of the previous president”, they said. Everyone should see it and then make a decision, we say.
Following its Cannes debut, the Trump plan threatened to sue the creators of The Apprentice, according to a report from Breitbart News.
The Trump campaign’s general spokesperson, Steven Cheung, said,” This garbage is natural fiction that sensationalizes lies that include much debunked. We will be filing a complaint.”
