Senator Sheldon Whitehouse ( D- RI )  , said Friday on MSNBC’s” Katy Tur Reports” that , Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito went “rogue” violating federal laws.
Justice Alito, according to Tur, “is the one whose wife flew the upside-down symbol in the Virginia house in the debate with their cousin, while Justice Alito has never commented on the Appeal to Heaven symbol.” Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island legislator and representative of the Judiciary Committee, wrote to Chief Justice Roberts asking for a conference to ensure that Justice Alito recuses himself from the cases involving January 6th, along with Dick Durbin, to assist us. I appreciate you joining us. Do you expect that Justice Roberts, the chief fairness, may meet with you”?
Whitehouse said,” We’ll see, we certainly hope so as the Chief Justice, he even serves as the chairman of the Judicial Conference, which is the operational system that oversees the Judicial Branch. That system is a body established by Congress, and it enforces laws passed by Congress. So he would be in a unique position if he claimed that Congress cannot inquire about how the firm is implementing laws that Congress has passed. So I think we’ll be able to get by that, and surely hope so”.
He added,” I think he’s in a very difficult position, and I think he has let Justice Thomas, and Justice Alito, he’s cut them way too much loose, and they seem to have gone completely rogue. So what he has been doing has n’t been working. And that’s one of the factors we want to join to see what it is that the Judicial Conference and the head of that event, him, the Chief Justice, are very clearly violating the ethics guidelines of the Supreme Court, violating federal regulations, and violating federal regulations. You just ca n’t put up with that. You would n’t put up with that in any agency, my God, how about the United States Supreme Court”.
