On Friday ’s broadcast of “CNN Newsroom, ” House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) stated that Russia’s market is “doing really good ” because China and India are buying their oil and while the difficulties in supplying Ukraine has hurt Ukraine, President Joe Biden also needs to soften limits on how they can use the arms.
Himes said, “It’s horrible in the sense that we’re seeing the results now of the six-month unjustifiable pause that the Congress took in providing the arms that Ukraine needs to win this battle. And of course, weaponry can’t mysteriously emerge on the Russian field immediately. But, while I’m delighted that the speaker eventually did the right thing and we got the$ 60 billion in help, we’re in that time right now where an awful lot of help is on its approach. That does n’t do anything for Ukrainians on the front. However, the Russians have kind of learned from their fatal mistakes of the first days. And therefore, they’re getting better. ”
He continued, “The Chinese and the Indians continued to buy their strength. But, their economy is doing just great. And thus, what’s the truth? The answer is, we should never again permit a difference in our support to Ukraine look. And, as you probably know, Jim, I’ve been kind of part of a group of members of Congress who’ve been urging the White House to pull some of the restrictions that exist on the use of American weaponry. And I understand that the President has to actually element in the possibility of what Russia could accomplish if they were really losing, but the problem is, that ’s not a problem right now, because they’re never actually losing. But, I think we need to get more intense, both in terms of what we supply and the laws that we put on the use of the arms that we send there. ”
