Post-Massacre weapons voting opened the door for” The AK Guy” to enter the race for the top spot.
EL PASO, Texas ( Border Report )– Incumbent U. S. Rep. Tony Gonzales has taken a guide on what is also a nearby GOP primary runoff election for Texas 23rd Congressional District.
Gonzales led opponent Brandon Herrera, aka” The AK Guy”, by a ratio of 10, 235 vote to 8, 688 with 40 percent of the West Texas districts reporting in Tuesday’s runoff election, according to unofficial results released by the Texas Secretary of State at 7: 45 p. m. MST. Gonzalez won the El Paso County earlier vote with 157 to 146, according to the site of the El Paso Elections Department.
Herrera, a YouTuber and gun manufacturer, used a gap between Gonzales and the State Republican Party to give himself a chance to dislodge the former after it had been brewing for more than a year. The state GOP last month criticized Gonzales for supporting a gun control bill in the House just days after the fatal shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde that claimed the lives of 19 children and two instructors.
Herrera actively campaigned on social media platforms like Twitter and YouTube, and he frequently shared video of himself with soldiers and other weapon enthusiasts.
Let me make a statement straight from my soul then that elections are closed and results are available. No political purpose, no bias, only me. Congratulate you”, he tweeted.
Gonzales made an unpleasant pitch in social ads, but in interviews he stressed his expertise and knowledge of the issues, from promoting trade with Mexico to border security.
Gonzales is a two- word president.
