This week, Melinda French Gates made the announcement that she will donate$ 1 billion to various women’s organizations all over the world, including those that support organizations that support the use of abortion to kill unborn children in the United States.
In a New York Times op-ed, French Gates wrote,” I have long felt compelled to support sexual right here at home,” adding that “in the post-Dobbs time, I feel compelled to do so.” ” For too long, a lack of funds has forced companies fighting for women’s freedom into a defensive posture while the enemies of development play act. I want to assist even the match”.
French Gates said the fresh spending may come from her organization Pivotal — not from the Bill &, Melinda Gates Foundation, a much- left organization she founded with her now- ex husband, Microsoft co- founder Bill Gates, that focuses on oligarchs initiatives like climate change, gender issues, and vaccination. After nearly 25 years of involvement with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, French Gates will officially retire from her position next year, she wrote.
Over the next two years, the$ 1 billion in funding will be given to “people and organizations working on behalf of women and families around the world, including reproductive rights in the United States,” she wrote.  ,
Only about half of the generous giving in the United States goes to companies that are specifically focused on women of color, and just about 2 % of that amount goes to companies that are in the minority, she continued. ” When we allow this cause to go so severely underfunded, we all pay the cost. When surprising as it is to observe, my 1- yr- old granddaughter perhaps grow up with fewer rights than I had”.
French Gates stated that she has begun directing offers from her business to organizations with the likes of the National Women’s Law Center, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and the Center for Reproductive Rights, a global legal business with a New York City headquarters that works to end pro-life rules and promote the abduction of newborn babies in abortions.
French Gates said she is “also experimenting with novel tactics to bring a wider perspective into philanthropy,” most recently by providing 12 people with their own$ 20 million grant-making funds to distribute as she or he sees fit. Former authoritarian prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, who resigned in January of 2023, has since taken on an unpaid position in the fight against “online extremism.”
French Gates announced this fall that she would also launch a$ 250 million initiative that is “focused on improving the mental and physical health of women and girls globally.”
” As a young woman, I could never have imagined that I would participate in a project like this one day. Given that I have been given this extraordinary opportunity, I’m determined to take advantage of it and set an agenda that will assist other women and girls in setting their own, too,” she said.  ,
