A Michigan resident with a suspended pilot’s license allegedly made one major error while participating in a court Zoom call in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
District Judge Cedric Simpson could hardly believe what was happening when the man joined the online conference while driving a car, Fox 13 reported , Wednesday.
Simpson appears on video footage of the affair allegedly asking accused Corey Harris if he is in the car. ” Really, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office, really. But just give me one minute. I’m parking best nowadays”, Harris tells him.
Before questioning Harris if he is” stationary,” the stunned judge places his pen on his desk. Harris next informs him that he is.
” Okay, so maybe I do n’t understand something” , , Simpson says to Harris ‘ public defender. ” This is a driving while license suspended]case], and he was just driving, and he did n’t have a license”.
Harris next appears to be aware of what is happening and raises his hand in an effort to grab the judge’s attention. The judge then says,” I do n’t even know why he would do that”.
The judge informed the court audience that Harris ‘ connection has been revoked and that he will turn himself in to the authorities. A bench warrant without bond will be issued for someone who does n’t turn themselves in, Simpson continued.
Social media users were swift to share their thoughts on the event, one man writing,” Well, at least he had his helmet on”.
” This guy really face palmed”, another user said.
In Michigan, it is a major issue for a person to drive with a suspended or revoked registration, according to White Law PLLC.
” Depending on the situation, an individual who violates their held permit does face misdemeanor or criminal fees”, the firm’s site said.
According to a report from Breitbart News in 2021, Michigan lifted the punishments on tens of thousands of driver’s licenses.
The suspensions occurred when they resulted from “failing to appear in court ( FAC ) or a failure to comply with judgment (FCJ), including failing to pay tickets or pay court fines,” the outlet reported.
