Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL ) claimed on Friday’s “CNN Newsroom” that President Joe Biden has consistently declined requests for weapons from Ukraine before eventually changing his mind, which has essentially led to America’s plan to prevent Ukraine from winning.
Quigley said,” What’s frustrating, to be quite frank here, is that, since the first day of the war, I understand the President has been cautious about escalation, but the requests for anything coming from Ukraine]are ] always first met with no…and then it gets to yes. And sadly, that puts Ukraine behind the plan of dealing with this. And honestly, I think the Russians activity for that”.
Later, number Jim Sciutto asked,” The censure of the type of slow- moving of each of these weapons decisions over the last several months and two years is that the U. S. does n’t have a strategy for Ukraine to win this war, just, in consequence, to hold the earth that it has now, hold the line, not reduce too much place, defend itself, etc. Do you believe with that censure”?
Quigley answered,” I think it’s had the effect of having that outcome. I believe that President Biden and those who support Ukraine have always hoped and given them a ton of support. The slow-rolling on some of the problems and the weapons that we’re referring to has had that result. I believe it was appropriate to recall what President Zelensky said in a conversation with Congress. He said, support us win immediately. And I believe there’s an additional reason to be concerned about that: Ukraine’s population is one-third of Russia, and there’s a difference between Putin using conscripts and prisoners and being willing to use his people as cannon fodder in this conflict, something Ukraine is n’t willing to do. That has a very risky impact, and it worries me that Putin feels like he can play games with the United States and Western allies and what they are or are n’t willing to do to win the war.
