After it announced that it would be celebrating” Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” rather than LGBTQ Pride Month, a cafe in Idaho sparked controversy.
The table, Old State Saloon in Eagle, Idaho, announced the party on Facebook, inviting people to enjoy a quarter of holidays and drink offers.
” Come meet us all month to enjoy homosexuals, for without them, none of us would be these”! the club wrote.
The club announced that “any homosexual men who dresses like a homosexual male” will receive a free ale on tap on Mondays in June.
Per the New York Post:
The bar even put out a call seeking a “professional” judge qualified” to determine if men’s chosen clothing is officially heterosexual”, offering$ 15 per hour plus free beer as compensation to anyone who” think]s ] you have what it takes to determine straight threads”.
Wednesday will be for people, where “each homosexual couple” may receive 15 % off their bill.
Fridays are women ‘ nights –heterosexual ladies, to be exact — with” Her Hetero Happy Hour” promising happy- hours prices for immediately people all day long.
Social received mixed reviews, with some praising the action while others describing it as an unwarranted act of bigotry.
” This is horribly disappointing. I may deal with various political viewpoints. I CANNOT control prejudice and hate towards disadvantaged communities”, one person wrote.
” Think being this insecure”, another wrote.
” I’m straight and I do n’t need this. Probably because I know I’m direct”? said another.
Thank you for standing up for the rest of the group who has been averse to doing the right thing, wrote one supporter.
Another follower praised the organization’s willingness to hold a Hetero Male Monday group, saying,” I love it.”
In a later article, Old State Saloon addressed the censure.
” 1 ) We love our LGBTQ+ patrons! 2 ) We wo n’t be changing our minds and joining the group of people who are making vitriol-filled comments. 3 ) ALL are invited to” come celebrate heterosexuality with us in June”! it said.
” If you’ adore’ your LGBTQ+ customers, confirm it. Have a day for them too”, one poster shot again.
” We also care about our Dark customers. We love our White visitors. We adore our USPS employees. But we are n’t doing special times for those people. Nor are we doing particular evenings for LGBTQ+”, the club responded.  ,” We are choosing to honor homosexuals. We should be able to do that without so many people being thus unpleasant to us, lying about us, canceling us, attacking our organization, and/or trying to get us to produce anything about themselves”.
” If you want us to change who we are celebrating, get over it. It’s no happening. Hooray for homosexuals”! it added.
