
Retired four- sun Navy Admiral Robert Burke was  , arrested Friday for his alleged role in a corruption scheme , that occurred from 2020 to 2022.
The 62- yr- older former commander of the U. S. Naval Forces in Europe and Africa is accused of attempting to , safe government contracts in exchange for potential employment,  , the Justice Department said.
According to an accusation unsealed Friday, Burke met with Yongchul” Charlie” Kim and Meghan Messenger, inc- CEOs of an unknown firm, in 2021.
According to the Justice Department, Burke and the defendants allegedly agreed to use his naval experience to grant the company a sole-source deal in exchange for future employment.
Burke allegedly made a promise to persuade another Navy officers to give the business a large training contract, which is” triple digit millions,” according to officials.
He now faces charges of conspiracy to commit corruption, bribery, acts affecting personal economic pursuits, and concealing fabric details from the U. S. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
According to section officials, Kim and Messenger are also accused of conspiring to commit bribery and corruption, with possible sentences of up to 20 decades each.
The authorities- led research into the offences, they added, is continuous.
