‘Antisemitism’: U. Michigan regent’s office vandalized with pro-Palestinian graffiti

Regent Jordan Acker is Jewish, says no other panel members were targeted

Local news information reported on Monday that a Hebrew part of the University of Michigan Board of Regents had pro-Palestine painting adorn the law business.

According to the Detroit News, the phrases” Free Palestine” and” Sell or f-off” were written in large letters all over Regent Jordan Acker’s Southfield law office.

” F— you Acker” and “UM eliminates” even were written across the windows and road, while red color was splattered over the door and business mark, according to a movie on X by WJBK Fox 2 legal researcher Charlie Langton.

After learning that none of the other governors were targeted this year, Acker described the vandalism as an “antisemitism” action.

” If you show up at my house in the middle of the night, and even targeting my other coworkers, it is rude and ugly, but it is not always antisemitism”, he wrote on X. ” If you show up at my business, and not any other regents, you are engaged in antisemitism”.

According to the Associated Press, Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren stated that the incident, which may be a hate crime, is being looked into by local police and the FBI.

Pro-Palestinian protesters have also targeted other regents in recent weeks.

    The AP reports more:

On May 21, police detonated a pro-Palestinian encampment that had been ongoing for a month on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. About 50 people were cleared from the school’s Diag, known for decades as a site for campus protests. At least four were arrested.

A group of 30 protesters gathered at the home of Sarah Hubbard, the chair of the board of regents, on May 15 and set up stuffed, red-stained sheets on her lawn to resemble body bags. They slammed a bullhorn and sung slogans along with it.

Additionally, people who covered their faces also posted demands at the doors of other board members.

Acker claimed that a related incident occurred at his home that night.

” Around 4: 40 A. M., a masked intruder came to the door of my family’s home with a list of demands, including defunding the police. My three daughters were asleep in their beds, and thankfully unaware of what transpired”, he wrote in an X post.

The UM Board of Regents rejected pro-Palestinian protesters ‘ demands to sell businesses with connections to Israel.

” I’m not interested in separating from Israel. I do n’t want protestors to have any influence over the kind of financial support our students will receive in the future, Acker wrote on X in May.

He added that many members of the Jewish community are still unsure about what happened to “inclusiveness” in a May interview with Politico.

According to him,” a lot of schools like Michigan have embraced the idea that we should center the feelings of students and ensure that students feel not just physically safe, but also, to be honest, intellectually safe.”

Acker later stated that “our students should be exposed to ideas that are challenging and difficult without feeling that they are physically unsafe.”
