
A gunman who opened fire at the U.S. military northwest of the capital was detained by the Syrian army, according to the army.
Troops deployed near the ambassador fired again, wounding the person who was identified as Arab, the military said in a statement. He was eventually detained and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The U. S. ambassador said that small arms fire was reported at 8: 34 a. m. nearby time in the vicinity of the ministry’s access, adding that the service and staff are secure.
The United States has received criticism for supporting Israel in the fight against Hamas in Gaza, which the U.S. and E.U. have labeled as a terrorist business. Since the start of the war on October 7 there have been a dozen protests outside the U.S. ambassador.
The Palestinian group Hezbollah, Iran’s most prominent substitute army, has also been trading blaze with Israel across the borders.
