San Diego ( Wolf 5/KUSI)- On Friday morning, Caltrans announced the opening of a novel gate monument near the border to welcome visitors from all over the state.
It’s almost full.
A worn-out signal that had been there since the 1970s is now being replaced by the new global gateway monument.
Located on the the northbound Interstate 5 as you get to the 805 freeway in San Ysidro, it reads” Bienvenidos a California”.
The statue is a component of a$ 2.5 million job that was made possible by Caltrans ‘ Clean California Initiative, a clean-up effort to alter and beautify people spaces.
Not far away is the Beyer Boulevard MTS Trolley Station, which is also on record to receive updates as a result of the program.
The transport hub is located in a residential area with a large number of single-family houses, condos, and apartments.
In the future, residents and users of public transportation may see a modified and secure path that will allow for better access to the train station.
