SEACREST: Two reported shark attacks Friday led authorities to temporarily close beaches to swimmers in Walton County, on the Florida Panhandle.
According to the county sheriff’s office, the first assault occurred in the day when a lady was allegedly inflicted by a shark close to Watersound. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to the sheriff’s office, rescuers responded to a collision near Inlet Beach later that evening “following numerous reports of a girl being injured by a shark.”
The company stated in a social media post that” the water is then closed to the public in Walton County.”
The two people’s state and the amount of their wounds were not immediately known.
Also Friday, in Hawaii, a girl was seriously injured in an obvious shark attack in the waters off the island of Oahu, authorities said.
Shark attacks are unique, according to authorities.
There were 69 unjustified nibbles last month worldwide, and 10 of those were dangerous, according to the University of Florida’s International Shark Attack File. That was higher than the current average of six annual incidents.
