After three people were hurt in two fish episodes on Friday at nearby beaches, officials are urging athletes along Florida’s Gulf Coast to be cautious.

In the first assault, a 45- year- ancient lady was bitten by a fish near WaterSound Beach on Friday afternoon.

According to South Walton Fire Chief Ryan Crawford, the girl suffered serious injuries and needed to have her arm amputated.

Less than two hours later, authorities reported that two young ladies were attacked by a fish at Seacrest Beach while they were in waist-deep liquid with a group of friends.

One teenager’s had slight foot injuries, one of them had a broken upper leg, and the other had minor hand injuries.

On Friday, some coastlines were temporarily closed to athletes. Red and purple flags were raised to warn swimmers of great risks on Saturday as the beaches were reopened.

All I may say is that these situations are quite uncommon, according to Demian Chapman, director of the Center for Shark Research, to the Associated Press.

&nbsp,” It’s even more unusual to have two events in one evening involving three people”.

On Saturday, Walton County authorities were using ships to patrol the ocean.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office stated that” Purple Flags indicate the presence of harmful marine life and one dark colors indicate high risk problems.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, smaller fish that are spotted near sea schools might have been a contributing factor to the problems.

According to Chapman, it’s not known whether a fish or two distinct ones were responsible for the attacks on Friday.

” There’s certainly been a restoration of fish in the Gulf after many years of overfishing”, he said.

They are “kind of over there again after being somewhat underused.”

Sheriff’s officials say they do n’t know what type of shark attacked the swimmers on Friday.

In a social media post, the sheriff’s department stated,” We want to repeat that fish are often present in the Gulf.”

” Swimmers and beachgoers should be watchful and aware of their surroundings when swimming.”

According to the University of Florida‘s International Shark Attack File, there were 69 unwarranted shark bites last month, and 10 of those were fatal.
