House Republicans want a report from the CIA regarding allegations of CIA intervention in federal investigations involving President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.
The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees ‘ chairs requested a staff-level lecture from the company on Tuesday to discuss previous allegations that the CIA had hampered an interview with Trump affiliate Patrick Kevin Morris. The email was a follow-up to the one sent in March seeking documents related to allegations that national reporters had allegedly prevented Morris ‘ interview.

But, lawmakers criticized testimony from Gary Shapley, an internal revenue service journalist who claimed the Justice Department had obstructed Morris’s ability to speak with him as part of a national tax research on Tuesday. ” Importantly, Mr. Shapley stated that,’ ]i ] t is questionable how the CIA became conscious that Mr. Morris was a possible witness in the Hunter Biden analysis,'” wrote Chairmen James Comer, R- Ky., and Jim Jordan, R- Ohio.
According to Tuesday’s letter, following discussions between team members on the Judiciary Committee and the CIA Office of Congressional Affairs in April failed to support Catella’s assertions of company intervention.
According to lawmakers, the CIA has so far been omitted from providing any documentation or supporting evidence in response to the Committees ‘ March 21 text. ” In proportion, SSA Shapley’s oath and the supporting documents present distinct and historical evidence that Mr. Catella’s assertion in his April 4, 2024 letter to the Committees was probably false and/or misleading”.
The CIA was given until June 25 to schedule the briefing by law.

In December, House Republicans also launched a probe into the CIA’s role in peddling the conspiracy that Hunter Biden’s laptop, which surfaced in 2020, was an instrument of Russian disinformation. Lawmakers inquired as to whether any of the dozens of former intelligence officials who signed the notorious Hunter Biden laptop letter were employed by the CIA. The laptop letter was published in Politico to refute the Kremlin’s claim that Joe Biden’s White House campaign was being hampered by the election-year discovery.
