After 48 years of lecturing, evangelical priest Dr. Tony Evans is calling it quits at his temple because of an unknown crime he committed.

Evans, 74, who previously served as the priest for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks, announced in a written speech to his congregation that he would step down as senior pastor of the Dallas-based Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church. &nbsp,

Our responsibility to the Word of God as the highest standard of truth to which we are bound in our lives has always been the basis of our government. &nbsp,

We are required to confess and rekindle our relationship with God when we fall short of that common due to evil. A number of years before, I fell short of that common,’ he wrote in the Sunday message posted to the temple ‘s&nbsp, business. &nbsp,

Evans clarified he did n’t commit a crime&nbsp, but did n’t use’ righteous judgment’ in his actions. &nbsp,

He also did n’t specify whether he would be willing to come back after going through the “healing and restoration process” established by church elders. &nbsp,

Evans posted a clip from one of his sermons on May 27 explaining how Christians should n’t look for anything in their lives beyond Jesus Christ.

He said,” Most Christians today seek assistance from others to deal with something that is real in their lives.” &nbsp,

Therefore, if you believe in Christ and have Him, you do n’t need to add anything besides what He demands and expects of you to live victorously.

In 1976, Evans founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship as a biblical investigation for only 10 people. Today, the church has over 10, 000 people and 100 different ministers targeted at grownups, children, singles and couples.

The priest even has a favorite normal radio show featuring snippets of his ambitious sermons called’ The Alternative,’ which airs on over 1, 400 stations in more than 130 countries. &nbsp,

It’s questionable if he will also get stepping away from those tasks. &nbsp,

The temple itself stated in a statement that it had numerous discussions with Dr. Evans and the church mothers before making the decision to cut off its most well-known priest.

Dr. Evans and the elders concur that when an elder or priest disobey the higher standards of scripture, the seniors are accountable for providing accountability and upholding integrity in the church, continued the statement. &nbsp,

Bobby Gibson, another priest at the temple, will be providing more information in the coming weeks about what’s future in terms of church management, according to the speech.

In 2012, Evans made stories for publicly criticizing then-President Barack Obama’s aid for gay marriage. &nbsp,
