McALLEN, Texas ( Border Report ) — Federal officers seized a cache of over 700 rounds of ammunition and four weapons at a port of entry on Monday in Eagle Pass, Texas, U. S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.
The guns and ammunition, as well as seven publications, were headed north into Piedras Negras, Mexico via the Camino Real International Bridge.
According to CBP officials, the memory was discovered hidden within a vinyl wrap in a video that was being pulled by an older delivery.
Officials were alerted by non-intrusive evaluation systems, and the vehicle had been sent for secondary inspection.
According to CBP Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie,” This outgoing enforcement actions demonstrates CBP’s continued commitment to our goal border security mission and helping to keep our frontier areas safe.”
Beattie posted on X on Homeland Security Investigations from San Antonio, who is looking into the event.
As medications and seized people continue to flow northwest across the Southwest frontier, Homeland Security officials have put a premium on catching illegal weapons heading south into Mexico.
