With the intention of remaining a formidable force in the face of China, Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall has announced that the Air Force is undergoing a significant restructuring of rates and education.
While a fresh Integrated Capabilities Command is being created, permit soldiers will returning to the company after years of service disengagement. This new department will be under the leadership of a three-star public and will be in direct communication with the Air Force’s chief and secretary.
In the presentation address” Reoptimizing for the Great Power Competition” held earlier this year in Aurora, Colorado, Kendall addressed the restructuring. A total of two hundred changes are planned to become made throughout the power structure, according to a media release from the U.S. Air Force.
” Currently, we are announcing 24 major choices that are going to address the current army and our ability to stay cut-throat”, Kendall said. We have no time to refocus our troops in a time of Great Power Competition because we need these changes right away.
The changes included in the program are organized into four categories: create people, create preparation, project power and produce capabilities. An visual entitled” Reoptimizing for Great Power Competition”, which was published by the Air Force, provides important information on these shifts.

With the new construction, there will be more opportunities for serviceman growth, with establishing tracks for officer and warrant officers in the fields of information technology and cyberspace. Also, Air Force Operational Wings are to be restructured into three “units of activity” types: Scalable Combat Wings, In- Place Combat Wings, and Combat Generation Wings. With a focus on keeping combat readiness in each division, each group will be organized into specific models.
Sixteenth Air Force, AFCYBER, located at Joint Base San Antonio- Lockland, is to be restructured into a stand- only Service Component Command. Now, AFCYBER maintains 11 products across Texas, Florida, Virginia, North Dakota, Nebraska, California, and Maryland.
Kendall made it abundantly clear that these steps were being implemented to make the Air Force for possible conflicts with China.
” We are out of day”, Kendall said. ” Why do I say that? Never that I enjoy playing the sound of a broken record. It’s that, for at least two decades, China has been building a defense that is designed, objective- built, to hinder and defeat the United States if we act in the northern Pacific”.
Kendall added,” ]People’s Republic of China President ] Xi Jinping has told his military to be ready to take Taiwan by force by 2027, even if the U. S. intervenes”.
