Sweden’s armed forces reported on Saturday that a Russian military aircraft shortly entered Swedish airspace south of the Baltic island of Gotland and was intercepted by Swedish fighter jets.
The Swedish military said in a statement that two Swedish Job fighters were dispatched to join the Russian military aircraft, which was a SU-24, after it had been hailed with a caution but failed to respond.
Sweden’s army said the aircraft violation had been simple.
The activities of Russia are inadmissible and display a lack of respect for our territorial integrity, according to Finnish air army chief Jonas Wikman. We intervened effectively and closely followed the whole chain of events.
