Research: Do n’t consider your lyin’ eyes
It takes a lot of intentional evasion these days to think that Joe Biden’s physical condition and psychological state are comparable to that of Donald Trump, his GOP contender.
However, wonder! A philosophy professor emeritus at Clemson University recently wrote a column on the subject of mental decline and aging. Unfortunately, he comes to the conclusion that Biden is the better choice for this November.
Leo Gugerty, whose research and instruction deals with” critical thinking]and ] how political ideology and trust in science influence reasoning and beliefs about controversial political topics”, says” some Americans are questioning” if Trump and Biden are” cognitively competent” given they’ve been “mixing up names while speaking” and have had” trouble recalling details of past personal events”.
Gugerty ( pictured ) provides a number of links to mainstream media articles to support his point, which, as you might expect, places the challenger in focus much more.
The concern about Trump’s mental faculties is n’t new, recall former Yale psychology professor Bandy Lee and, more recently, hundreds (yes, hundreds ) of others— like Johns Hopkins ‘ Ankur Butala who opined the following about the 45th president:
There is more than enough reason to suspect Dementia]sic ] including: worsening thought process, loser]sic ] connections between thoughts, tangentiality, paraphasias, irritability, paranoia, persecutory ideation, impulsivity and so on, which are clearly different than videos of him from 10 years ago. Without having him personally examined, I am unable to provide more clarification, but he does appear to have at least a cautious pace. A combination of frontal lobe dysfunction ( sort of like frontotemporal Dementia or CTE ) and a vascular Dementia would be the most plausible disorder.
The Atlantic informed viewers that Trump’s most recent story about fish was “bizarre,” and that it should be questioned what the response would be if Biden had said them. They certainly forgot, among many other issues, that Biden claimed his brother had been eaten by savages.

However, one is likely to get coverage of Biden’s nuts claims— and his (very ) brief- term memory — just in conservative/independent media:

According to Professor Gugerty, Biden’s and Trump’s emotional errors “are within the range of ordinary good ageing and that the specifics of one’s personal existence are not particularly relevant to a president’s work.”
However, the latter’s “extensive knowledge and experience in politicians” end up winning the morning:
Before making a decision, Biden adequately examines and discusses various perspectives with his advisers.
In comparison, Trump has substantially less experience in elections.  , He claims that he can make intuitive decisions , in a field where he lacks knowledge , by using” common sense”  , and still be more accurate than knowledgeable experts. This claim contradicts the , research showing that broad job- certain experience , and knowledge is necessary for logical decisions to be constantly successful.
Both individuals exhibit both good and bad decision-making, according to what I’ve read about this total. But, I believe , Biden , often displays , the democratic dispositions that characterize great decision- making, while , Trump does this less frequently.
As if running a billion- buck company empire does n’t count as “extensive job- particular experience” ( economy, taxes, taxes, etc. Compared to someone who “earned” a government money his entire adult life ( and made other monetary gains as a result ), this is especially true.
Consider taking a little excursion outside the bubble, dr.
