According to a statement obtained by Dallas-area megachurch pastor .com, Robert Morris admitted to having “inappropriate sexual conduct with a fresh girl” in the 1980s after a woman accused him of molesting her when she was 12 centuries old.
The lady, Cindy Clemishire, told WFAA the abuse started on Christmas Day in 1982 and continued until 1987, when she told her parents. The Wartburg Watch, a temple guardian site, initially reported her bill Friday.
Morris, a mature priest at Gateway Church and a part of the 2016 presidential campaign’s Evangelical Executive Advisory Board, did not name the child in his speech but claimed the incorrect behavior persisted for a while.
” I had inappropriate sexual relations with a young woman in a house where I was staying when I was in my first 20s.” It was kissing and petting and never intercourse, but it was wrong. Over the course of the next few years, this conduct occurred on several occasions,” the priest said in his statement.
Morris ‘ conduct was “brought to gentle” in 1987 while he was a priest at Shady Grove Church in Grand Prairie, which has since become one of Gateway Church’s 11 sites, WFAA reported.
” In March of 1987,  , this condition was brought to light, and , it was confessed and repented of. I made a submission to the Shady Grove Church Elders and the parents of the young lady. They asked me to leave the government and go to counseling and the independence movement, which I did. In this area, since that time, I have practiced beauty and transparency,” Morris said in a statement, adding that he and his wife met with the victim’s home in 1989.
” I asked their forgiveness, and they kindly forgave me”, he said.
Clemishire told WFAA that Morris’s home always supported him returning to the government despite the fact that she forgave him.
” I believe officials may get caught up in this and mistakenly believe that it is our duty to protect God.” Our role is to defend the people”, she added. ” God is bigger than all of that”.
CNN has sought post from, Morris and Gateway Church, as well as Clemishire and her lawyer.
In a speech to WFAA, Gateway Church said Morris underwent a two- time “restoration approach” after a “moral loss” in his thirties.
” Pastor Robert has been honest and sincere about a social fallout he experienced when he was in his 20s and when he first founded Gateway Church. According to the church’s speech,” He has publicly disclosed the proper Biblical actions he took during his long restoration process.”
The Elders at Shady Grove Church carefully managed the two-year recovery operation, which included him leaving the government while receiving professional counseling and liberty government guidance, according to the statement. ” Since the magnification of the 35- year- ancient matter, there have been no other social failures”.
In 2016, Morris was piece of Trump’s Evangelical Executive Advisory Board, the battle announced in a , news release at the time. Trump even held a , roundtable at Gateway’s Dallas school in 2020 and Morris led a prayer before the event.
It is questionable if Morris is contributing to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. CNN has sought reply from the plan.
