Tom Vogl, an associate professor of economics at the University of California San Diego, claimed housing is the main factor in California’s population’s decision to leave.
He said:” All the data I’ve seen suggest that housing is the driving issue. The most common destination for California out-migrers is twice as much as a typical house in Texas, where a typical house costs twice as much as a typical house. And when asked why they left, they were out. Immigrants are now much more likely to cite housing than other factors like family and jobs, which was n’t the case in earlier times.
” In California, it’s difficult to make ends meet because of the high cost of housing.” In the US, California is also at the forefront of homelessness. Another side effect of the unaffordable housing crisis is the homelessness crisis, which also serves as a motivating factor for residents to leave.
Housing is a top priority for Professor Dowell Myers, a demography expert at the University of Southern California’s Price School of Public Policy, and downplayed the suggestion that crime has also been a key factor.
He stated in an interview with Newsweek that” the high housing prices in California are the one unusual feature, but they have also increased nationwide. California is still the top state ( along with Hawaii ), and it is putting pressure on young people who really want to buy a house. After a few more years of these losses, the housing market might be back in balance, especially given that the state government is actually promoting policies to create more housing.
” Crime is not a factor in most people’s lives in California… Always in the news, but in reality they occur at a very low rate in relation to population size.
