Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, was found guilty on all three criminal charges on Tuesday. After a six-day trial, a judge ruled that the first child lied about his drug use history on a national background check for buying guns. Following the conclusion of the closing arguments, the jury deliberated for three days, starting on Monday evening.
Hunter Biden, who purchased a Colt Cobra pistol on October 12, 2018, was found guilty of lying on two counts on federal gun documents. Moreover, he was found guilty of a second crime for possessing the weapon while using bite cocaine.
The Biden family’s serious rifts were exposed by the judicial trial, according to National Review. Hunter’s father- family, Kathleen Buhle, and his dying brother Beau Biden’s wife, Hallie Biden, testified against him. This created an emotional split within the family, particularly when Naomi Biden, the eldest child of Buhle and Hunter, testified for the security, pitting mother against child.
As part of the legal team led by special guidance David Weiss, federal prosecutors Derek Hines and Leo Wise. Throughout the trial, Weiss was manifest in the court, frequently seen chatting and eating candy during falls.
Prosecutors presented what they called “overwhelming information” of Hunter Biden’s drug use when he finished the purchase of the weapon. This information included witness testimony, text messages, videos, photos, bank information, and excerpts from Hunter’s narrative. Important testimony from Hallie Biden, weapons seller Gordon Cleveland, and ex-girlfriend Zoe Kestan helped establish Hunter Biden’s habit of using drugs and his determination to lie about his addiction.
Defense lawyer Abbe Lowell argued that Hunter Biden’s behaviour had improved around the time of the gun order, asserting that he did never “knowingly” lay on the national papers. However, the stories of Kestan and Cleveland, along with Hunter Biden’s own admittance of drug use in scriptures and narrative passages, posed significant problems to the opposition’s tale.
Throughout the trial, Lowell conducted extensive cross- examinations of the prosecution’s witnesses and disputed the context of the evidence presented. However, Leo Wise’s cross- examination of Naomi Biden, where he scrutinized her text messages with her father from October 2018, proved to be a pivotal moment, undermining her defense testimony.
Before the verdict, President Biden stated he would respect the jury’s decision and would not pardon his son if convicted. At the trial’s onset, President Biden issued a statement expressing pride in his son’s efforts to overcome his drug addiction.
Hunter Biden is scheduled to go on trial again in September for nine federal tax-related alleged failure to pay over$ 1.4 million in taxes over the course of four years.
