A judge blocked an Iowa immigration law that would allow authorities to file charges against people facing deportation, declaring it illegal.
The legislation, which was set to take effect on July 1, was challenged by the Department of Justice, which declared it illegal. In a Monday judgement, U. S. District Judge Stephen Locher sided with the DOJ.
” As a matter of politicians, the new policy may be defensible”, he wrote. ” As a matter of constitutional law, it is not”.
Gov. Kim Reynolds ( R- IA ) expressed her disappointment over the decision.
Reynolds wrote in a publish on X that” Iowa’s legislation to hinder illegal emigration has been BLOCKED, leaving us vulnerable to the consequences of Biden’s Open Border.” ” More violence, overdose deaths, and human trafficking. All because Biden wo n’t do his job”!
In a different speech obtained by the New York Times, she went on additional details.
The Biden management, she said, “plainly, is failing to do their job and carry out federal immigration laws that allow millions of people to enter and exit without effect or delay.” ” I signed this bill into law to guard Iowans and our communities from the effects of this border problems: rising crime, overdose deaths, and individual trafficking,” said the bill’s author.
Attorney General of Iowa, Brenna Bird, shared similar attitudes.
” I am disappointed in tomorrow’s court decision that prevents Iowa from stopping illegal rehabilitation and keeping our communities safe”, Bird, a Republican, said in a statement. Since Biden refuses to safe our frontiers, he has left state with no other choice but to work for him.
Bird even said she would appeal the decision.

The law in question, passed as Senate File 2340, was very common in the state government, passing with a 34- 16 voting in the Senate and 64- 30 in the House. It was modeled after a Texas legislation that was passed. If an individual was denied entry to the region or an illegal immigrant who had formerly been deported, the law would make it illegal to live there.  ,
