After a serious injury in Latina, an Italian rural area north of Rome, Indian land employee Satnam Singh lost his life after being abandoned on the side of the road.
The incident, which resulted in the breaking of Singh’s shoulder, took place while he was working on a plantation in the area, which is known for its major people of Indian immigrant workers, according to AFP report.
In a statement to the legislature, Labour Minister Marina Calderone called the event” a genuine act of barbarism” and expressed her wish that those responsible had face punishment. The case is now being looked into by the government. Singh, who was believed to be 30 or 31 years old and working without legal documents, suffered the injury while cutting grass with a device, according to the Flai CGIL business coalition.
The Indian Embassy in Italy acknowledged the affair and stated that they were attempting to contact the employee’s home and receive assistance from the embassy. The Embassy is aware of an American national’s tragic passing in Latina, Italy. We are in contact with local officials. The Indian Embassy in Rome was posted on their X control,” Efforts are underway to reach the home and offer diplomatic help.”
According to the trade union, Singh was “dumped like a case of rubbish near his home,” referring to the circumstances as “horror film” rather than receiving help from his employers. Police were alerted by Singh’s wife and friends, and an air hospital was dispatched to the field. Singh suffered injuries in the middle of the day despite being airlifted to a clinic in Rome. Satnam was taken to a hospital in Rome, according to a police official, but he later passed away, about midday, according to a police spokesman.
The Democratic Party’s “defeat for culture” was a harsh critique of the treatment of the employee in a region known for employee exploitation. The group stressed the importance of keeping fighting gangmasters and making sure all people have decent and decent living and working conditions.
