A Russian-American woman who was detained earlier this year while visiting her home in Russia was set to go on trial on Thursday for allegedly crime after being accused of raising money to send to the Russian army.
Karelina, who was born in Russia but relocated to Los Angeles after moving to the US for more than ten years, could receive a statement of 12 years to life in captivity.
Her test will take place behind closed doors in Russia, as is usual in these cases. There are very few motive prosecutions it.
A short video of Karelina wearing trousers and a clean plaid shirt while she was sitting in a glass enclosure was released by the judge in Yekaterinburg, the Urals city. She smiled slightly as investigators snapped pictures.
The test had been adjourned until August 7 according to a notice posted after on the court’s website. It did not state a purpose.

Russia’s Federal Security Service ( FSB ) detained Karelina in January while she was visiting her parents and young sister in Yekaterinburg.
Eleonora Srebroski, Karelina’s ex-girlfriend, reported to Reuters in February that her partner surprised her with a plane solution, and that she had traveled home around the new year.
According to Srebroski, she had assured her boyfriend that traveling in Russia was” safe” and that he had no reason to worry about her.
First arrested under a slight “petty thuggery” statute, Karelina was eventually charged with treason.
Srebroski claimed Karelina had donated a small sum to Razom for Ukraine, a nonprofit based in New York that provides non-military support to the nation, when it was attacked by Russian forces in a 2022 specific military operation.
Karelina, who is in her early twenties, arrived in the U. S. in 2012 via a job- study plan and was quickly married to Srebroski’s child. Her ex-husband has described her as a fun-loving lady who was uninterested in politics.
Karelina’s social media profiles feature photos of herself and companions on the beach and on outings, but without social communication.
