Anouk Aimée, the French film image known for” A Gentleman and a Woman”,” La Dolce Vita” and” Lola”, has died. She was 92.
The director’s child, Manuela Papatakis, confirmed the information on Instagram, writing that she was at her mother’s side in Paris when Aimée died Tuesday night. No cause of death was given.
Aimée was born Nicole Françoise Florence Dreyfus in Paris on April 27, 1932, to players Geneviève Sorya and Henry Murray. She made her film debut at age 14 in” The House Under the Sea” (” La maison sous la mer” ) as a character named Anouk, which she adopted for herself afterward. She added the last brand” Aimée”, which means “beloved”, in the late 1940s to cement her identity with her on- display jobs.
Recognized as an , emblem , of” great, advanced beauty”, the professional appeared in almost 90 films across seven decades. Her most notable , roles , include new widow Anne, who falls for a widower at her daughter’s school before deciding that her heartbreak is very refreshing to maintain the romance, in” A Man and a Woman”, for which she was Oscar nominated in the head actress category — an amazing feat for a no- American star in 1967. She even won the same group at the same time that year for the same reason.
Her other most notable films include” La Dolce Vita” ( 1960 ) and “8 1/2″ ( 1963 ), which were directed by Federico Fellini, in addition to” Lola” ( 1961 ),” Justine” ( 1969 ),” Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man” ( 1981 ) and” Ready to Wear” ( 1994 ).
The global success of” A Gentleman and a Lady” fully mystified Aimée at the time.
” When we went to the Golden Globes, I remember I saw Fred Astaire”, Aimée , told The Times , in 2002. ” John Wayne stopped by to talk to me. Groucho Marx. When I was a child, I admired these persons, and I’m here applauding them. I do n’t understand. It’s wrong”.
She expressed her sincere appreciation for the lavish welcome she received in the US.
” It was amazing. It was an amazing adventure”, she said. I must say that United movies have a lot in store for me because I’ve always received me very favorably around. People behave extremely nicely with me in America— that’s true. I am one of the Europeans who love it ]in America].
Aimée was  , married , four days — primary to Edouard Zimmermann from 1949 to 1950, next to picture writer and director Nikos Papatakis— with whom she had girl Manuela — from 1951 to 1954. Her second husband was Pierre Barouh, who played her dying father in” A Gentleman and a Lady, “from 1966 to 1969. From 1970 to 1978, she married British artist Albert Finney.
