
Four people of the rich Hinduja relatives were given up to four years and six months in prison for allegedly abusing their domestic workers on Friday, according to a Swiss court.
The accused were found guilty of trafficking mainly ignorant local staff from India, seizing their documents, and making them work 16-hour time in their Geneva palace without extra pay.
The Hinduja community, known for their great business empire spanning different sectors, tops the Sunday Times record of the UK’s 350 richest people with an approximated fortune of £37 billion. But, Gopi Hinduja himself was never named in the case.
The Hinduja Group, which is run by the household, has a wide range of business passions, ranging from banks and cable television to trucks and oils.
Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, who established his vendor finance and business empires in English India before establishing them in Bombay in 1914 and expanding to Iran in 1919, was the founder of the organization.
The brothers eventually shifted their basic to London in 1979, where it remains now, with the party claiming to use 200, 000 people worldwide.
Srichand P Hinduja, the eldest brother, took over the reins in 1935 and is credited with founding IndusInd Bank. Gopichand Hinduja, who passed away in May 2023, was appointed chairman and is credited with leading the team’s ventures in the power and infrastructure sectors.
Forbes has named the mother’s wealth and influence as the seventh-highest in India and the 146th-highest in the world in recent years.
