Authorities said Saturday in the latest invasion by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on a professional ship passing through the Gulf of Aden that it appeared to have caused no damage but was unrelated to the incident.
The Houthi strike comes after the ship Tutor was sunk this year, which allegedly signals a new increase by the Iranian-backed Houthis in their offensive against ships in the Gaza Strip’s crucial sea hall.
However, US officials reportedly ordered the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, the aeroplane ship leading America’s reaction to the Houthi attacks, to returning home after a thrice- extended tour. According to the American government’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center, the ship’s captain was reportedly the subject of “explosions in the vicinity of the vessel.” The US-run Joint Maritime Information Center later reported that the ship had experienced two blasts both on its port area and three more. ” It was not hit and sustained no damage”, the center said. The crew and the vehicle are said to be protected and sailing their next port of call.
In their battle, which has resulted in the deaths of four seamen, the Houthis have carried out more than 60 attacks on specific warships and fired off additional missiles and drones. Since November, they have sunk two ships and taken one. The Houthis have been the targets of a US-led attack battle since January, with at least 16 killed and 42 people hurt in May 30th, according to the insurgents.
