In response to tensions in the marriage, Israel’s security minister vowed to work with the US to retake captives from Gaza during a trip to Washington on Monday.
Defense secretary Yoav Gallant had discussions with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the top US negotiator in the agreements to release Hamas ‘ victims.
” I would like to stress that it is Israel’s major responsibility to return the victims, with no exceptions, to their households and domiciles”, Gallant said before starting his meetings.
He declared,” We will continue to make every effort possible to bring them home.”
Prior to the start of negotiations on ending the war in Gaza, President Joe Biden on May 31 announced a schedule for a peace and the release of hostages.
Hamas, which launched the issue with its October 7 assault on Israel, has come up with its own needs, and the United States hopes the deficiencies can be bridged.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently irritated the Biden presidency by accusing Washington of cutting back on shipments of weapons and ammunition. He has been the subject of significant protests calling for his acceptance of the package.
Gallant took a different turn, saying,” The alliance between Israel and the United States, led by the US over several years, is extremely important”.
Additional than Israel’s unique military, “our relationships with the US are the most important factor for our coming from a safety perspective”, he said.
Biden, who has faced criticism from parts of his own foundation over his aid for Israel, held up a sale that included large 2, 000- lb bombs.
However, US officials claim Washington has often maintained the stream of arms.
Gallant is also scheduled to meet with Amos Hochstein, a senior White House established, and defence minister Lloyd Austin in Washington.
