A brand-new$ 25, 000 literary award will celebrate storytelling that contributes a significant contribution to the India story and was created by two well-known bestselling authors, Lord Jeffrey Archer and Amish Tripathi, in collaboration with the UK-based India Global Forum ( IGF ). On Monday, the opening day of the week-long conference in London, the IGF Archer-Amish Award for writing was announced.
The success of the reward money will be announced at the next IGF London mountain in 2025 when the conditions for submissions and jury may be established later in the year.
The famous American publisher of books like” Kennedy and Abel” and” The Clifton Chronicles,” Lord Archer, said,” Awards are extremely important because they give acknowledgement and help someone who has slaved night and day realize they are not on their own, stuck in a box.”
” Writing is very unhappy, you are completely on your own. But, when the earth acknowledges you with an award, it is an appreciation of your talent”, he said.
The inspiration for the new literary award was Amish Tripathi, who is known for his works that are focused on Hindu mythological themes, most recently” War of Lanka,” a reimagination of the epic” Ramanyana.”
One of the important drivers of this award is that it encourages the surprise of story itself. This will set it apart from other prizes that may recognize writers whose books are dull but use appropriate speech. But, there’s no account”, said Tripathi.
” The second factor is about Indians talking about ourselves, our personal stories. The method Westerners see India, in a lot of way through the American camera, it is one storyline, one glass, which is very different from how Indians see India”, he said.
The prize winner will also be featured on IGF platforms, introducing their job to a global audience, and describing their artistic journey.
” At IGF, we are writers- we tell the story of modern India and we tell it from the glass of organization, science and technology. But without traditions, business is a little dry”, said IGF Founder Manoj Ladwa.
There is a disconnect between what the West thinks of India and what Indians read and perceive about their nation. But IGF seeks to bridge that detach with this prize”, he added.
