
A controversial religious leader known as” Buddha Boy” was found guilty in a court in southern Nepal on charges of sexual assaulting a slight.
Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who some claim is the resurrection of the Buddha leader, was detained by the police in January on suspicion of sexual assault and participation in the removal of at least four of his fans.
He was found guilty of sexually assaulting an young child and will be sentenced on July 1 according to a judge in the Sarlahi District Court on Monday. Trials are still pending on the allegations relating to his supporters ‘ abductions.
He may encounter at least 12 years in jail, but can still charm his judgment.
Many Nepalese believe that Bamjan is Siddhartha Gautama’s rebirth, who was baptized as the Buddha and who was buried in southwest Nepal about 2,600 years ago. Buddhist researchers have been dubious of Bamjan’s states.
Bamjan was arrested from a home in a neighborhood of Kathmandu, the country’s capital, after jumping two decks from a glass in an attempt to escape.
At the time of the imprisonment, police claimed to have taken Nepalese coins fair$ 227, 000 and other foreign currency worth$ 23, 000.
In southwestern Nepal, Bamjan made a name for himself in 2005 when he claimed to be able to sit for weeks sitting submerged under a tree without getting enough food or water.
Although his popularity has declined as a result of allegations of sexual and physical assaults against his followers, he also runs camps in southern Nepal where people worship or reside.
