Korean Air announced on Tuesday that it was looking into an emergency situation over the weekend in which one of its Boeing 737- 8 aircraft had to be diverted due to a pressurization issue that left 17 customers in need of medical attention.
The Taiwan-bound aircraft had to make a return flight to Incheon on Saturday about 50 minutes after takeoff due to a leak in the pressurization system, a Korean Air official told AFP. This was the most recent incident involving a Boeing aircraft in a line.
According to a statement from the airport, 19 of the 125 passengers on board received medical care and were discharged without any major injuries.
We apologise to all those affected by this incident, it continued,” We are totally cooperating with all relevant authorities to check the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Since Boeing has had a number of manufacturing and quality control issues on its business aircraft since the beginning of 2023, Saturday’s incident occurred.
This includes an event in January when a 737 MAX operated by Alaska Airlines was forced to land safely in an emergency after a aircraft panels burst during the trip.
A series of instances led to the appearance of its chief executive, Dave Calhoun, before a United States Senate panel next year.
” Our society is far from perfect, but we are taking action and doing improvement”, Calhoun said at the hearing.
