Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a clear statement on Tuesday in response to fierce opposition criticism that the planned counterterrorism campaign would require intensifying ongoing intelligence-based operations ( IBOs ) rather than launching a new, organized military offensive.
The explanation came after PM Sharif’s announcement on Monday night that the anti-terror campaign he had earlier announced would not be a dynamic large-scale military operation nor would it result in massive displacement of regional populations.
On Saturday, PM Sharif had announced plans to launch a total- level rude, named” Azm- e- Istehkam ( Resolve for Stability )”, to reduce violence and fanaticism.
Analysts claimed that China’s concerns about attacks on its citizens had good influenced the Muslim leadership, but that the timing of the new operation was likely dictated more by local politics and economic considerations.
But, Sharif had to step down from his earlier position after fierce criticism to his decision. According to the PM’s company,” the PM took government individuals into trust regarding misunderstandings and debate regarding” Vision Azm- e- Istehkam.”
The aim of the battle, Sharif said, was to “decisively root out from the state the remnants of extremists, the crime and terrorism pro and harsh extremism”.
However, defence minister Khawaja Asif said a majority of operations under” Azm- e- Istehkam” may be conducted in Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa ( K- P ) and Balochistan, Pakistan’s two dangerous provinces in the west bordering Afghanistan. This procedure may be somewhat different from the previous one. It will start with steps against terrorists. The procedure has no political purpose, its only purpose is to store the boom in terrorism”, the minister said.
We engaged in two war for US interests under the Zia-ul-Haq and Musharraf systems. This procedure, however, is being conducted on our own words, not at the urging of China or someone else”, he said.
The defense secretary stated that this function did not result in evacuations.
