Prince Harry discusses grief and urging younger people to express their feelings in a new film released in NEW DELHI. Speaking as a global adviser for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports children who have lost families in the army, Harry shared his personal experience.
Having lost his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, at the age of 12, he offers his view on coping with loss. The film, which was shot in May and made available prior to Armed Forces Day, aims to highlight the support requirements of grieving military children in the UK.
Harry spoke openly about the myths that children may include after losing a loved one. He explained that it is simple to persuade oneself that a person’s continued anguish must be sufficient evidence that they are no longer in need. He said, however, that the lost loved one may probably need the life to get pleasure.
” It’s so simple as a child to believe or convince yourself…. You persuade yourself that the people you’ve lost wants you, or that you must remain depressed for as long as possible to show them that you are missed. But then there’s this realisation of, no, they may want me to get happy”, he said.

Prince Harry, 39, has previously criticized what he believes was a lack of community support following his family’s passing in 1997. He thinks this caused him to suppress his feelings until he sought treatment. He emphasized the value of discussing lost as a way to remember those who have passed.
” That’s the hardest thing, especially for kids, I think, which is,’ I do n’t want to talk about it because it will make me sad, but once realising that if I do talk about it, I’m celebrating their life, then actually, things become easier ‘… as opposed to this’ I’m just not going to talk about it, and that’s the best form of coping,’ when in fact it’s not. It can be for a period of time…you ca n’t suppress it forever. It’s not lasting. And may take away at you inside”, he added.
He cited the use of natural defense systems as a way to address the issues of discussing contentious issues. Nobody wants to be forced to discuss the things they do n’t want to, especially when every defense mechanism in their heads, nervous system, and other systems tell them to “do not go there,” he said.
The film features a dialogue with Nikki Scott, chairman of Scotty’s Little Soldiers. She recounted the heart- painful time she had to show her five- year- older son, Kai, that his father, Cpl Lee Scott, had been killed in Afghanistan in 2009. At the time, she even had a seven- month- old girl, Brooke.
The charity made the video available to attract attention to the ongoing demands of grieving military kids. After seeing the positive outcomes a family vacation had on her grieving child, Scott was inspired to write Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Expressing his admiration for Scott’s job, Harry said,” What you’ve done is remarkable. It is really encouraging. I’m really proud and affluent to be a part of Scotty’s right now, and I’m looking forward to working with them to spread the word that more children need the help they so desperately need.
Over 680 people now support Scotty’s Little Soldiers, and it is estimated that every year, over 100 babies are recently bereaved of a family who served in the British Armed Forces. These children need the emotional help they need to deal with their loss and direct fulfilling lives, according to the charity’s mission.
The movie aims to teach children that expressing their emotions is a crucial component of treatment. Through this program, Prince Harry hopes to raise awareness of the value of empty discussions about grief and loss.
