
NEW DELHI: Many people were killed in floods, storms, and lightening situations in different parts of Nepal within the last 24 days as the rain spread across the nation.
Eight people have been killed by landslides, five due to lightning, and one due to floods, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority ( NDRMA ) under Nepal’s ministry of home affairs.
” We recorded a total of 44 occurrences on June 26, 2024. In those instances, 14 people have lost their lives, 8 were expected to floods, 5 due to thunder, and 1 in flood. Dijan Bhattarai, a spokesperson for the NDRMA, told ANI over the telephone that 2 people are also unaccounted for in the flood and 10 others have been injured.
On Wednesday, a disaster claimed the lives of five persons in Lamjung, two in Kaski, one in Okhaldhunga, and one suicide due to flooding, according to the home government.
Since the start of the monsoon climatic effect in the Himalayan nation, 28 people have lost lives and 147 incidents have been recorded in the past 17 days (till June 26, 2024 ). According to the house ministry’s records, floods have claimed 14 lives and 13 deaths as a result of lightning in the same time period.

Above-normal precipitation is anticipated during the monsoon season over most of South Asia, according to a statement from the 28th Conference of the South Asian Climate Outlook Forum released on April 29. But, some areas over north, northeast, and northeast parts of the region properly experience below- regular rainfall.
