A gentleman from Southern California was given a 10-year prison sentence for conspiring with others to deliver thousands of fentanyl tablets throughout the country.
George Anthony Manzo may be required to go on five years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.
According to the U. S. Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas, Manzo sold hundreds of fentanyl medications to people setting up the purchases through Snap.
Manzo was stopped while returning from Phoenix to Las Vegas, and about 30 000 medications were discovered in his vehicle.
While the medications were tested, Manzo was freed pending the benefits.
In December 2021, he was taken into custody in Tijuana, Mexico and returned to the United States for trial.
Three years later, he pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, morphine, and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
Manzo was a native of Redlands, California.
The U. S. Attorney’s office says fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat the United States has ever faced, killing 38, 000 American in the first six months of 2023 only.
