Residents of North Korea reported to Radio Free Asia that the land held mass anti-U.S. rallies across the country on Tuesday to commemorate the 74th celebration of the start of the 1950-53 Korean War.
More than 80, 000 people were forced to chant phrases against America and watch remarks decrying Washington for four time by the town of Hyesan, which is located northeast of the Chinese border, according to a citizen there who spoke to Radiofrequency Asian on condition of anonymity for safety reasons.
She said,” The anti-American large rally held now was larger than any large protest I have ever seen in my living,” referring to the battle by the day it began, as is usual in the Korean language when referring to significant events. She said that the march started at 8 a. m. and went until lunch.
Following the event, the group split into three groups and headed for various locations of the city, she said, yelling anti-American phrases and parading through the roads.
” At 3 p. m., a ‘ War Veterans Reunion Meeting’ was held at the Hyesan Movie Theater, attended by people of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League and Socialist Women’s Union of Korea”, she said.
The people of Hyesan is 250, 000, but some registered there are both connected to the military or have been assigned to the city from elsewhere, so the tenant said the city’s exact population is only 140, 000.
This implies that more than half of the crowd was present at the venue on Tuesday.
The citizen claimed that orders were given for “everyone to be mobilized for the march, from elementary school students to battle veterans, who had move.”
She continued,” This 6.25 War-related function has been taking place every day since the 23rd, starting with the Socialist Patriotic Youth League and the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea,” no just now. This will also be the first time this kind of celebration has lasted three consecutive days.
A unique get
Although most historians concur that the North crossed the 38th parallel in the early hours of June 25, 1950, to attack the South, the conflict is officially known as the” Great Fatherland Liberation War” in North Korea. However, most historians concur that this was the case when the island was divided and the South invaded.
Fighting ended in 1953 with an armistice, hardly a treaty, meaning the war is essentially still continued. North Korea asserts that it defeated the United States and its allies in the war, despite the deaths of 2.5 million Koreans and the loss of somewhat less of its place as a result of fighting on both sides.
On a national level, Tuesday’s rallies, which took place all over the nation, are the largest ever to honor the war, according to a representative from Hyesan’s neighboring Ryanggang province, who spoke to Radiofrequency Asian on condition of anonymity.
” Today’s mass rally was prepared nationwide from June 16 in accordance with ( national leader ) Kim Jong Un’s direction on June 13″, he said.
June 25 kicks off an overall “anti- American fight” quarter that ends on July 27, the celebration of the signing of the armistice, which North Korea calls” Success Day”.
He claimed that Kim Jong Un had decreed that the anti-American fight month be filled with events remembrating the war in order to stoke a hostile atmosphere.
Up until July 27, which is the Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War, each group and labour group will continue to hold gatherings on topics relating to the 6.25 War, watch movies, and explore the anti-espionage fight exhibition hall and the group training center, according to him, adding that students will take part in writing and art contests with a theme based on the Korean War.
People are complaining that they had to do so much this year because the event for the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War last year was only one hour long, the official said.
For years, authorities promised that once North Korea had nuclear capabilities, a “flowery path will unfold, and tailwinds will blow for our people’s future”, he said.  ,
Now that North Korea has nuclear weapons, though, the narrative has shifted. Washington is to blame for the country’s continuing low living standards in North Korea.
Residents are complaining that they are discussing the United States and its imperialist plans these days, he said.
