In a series of destructive bomb blasts that occurred in Gwoza Town, Borno State, in northern Nigeria, at least 18 people were killed and 48 were hurt in the aftermath of the problems. The problems are thought to have been carried out by sexual suicide bombers. The precise areas included a marriage ceremony, General Hospital Gwoza, and a funeral.
According to the Borno state emergency management agency ( SEMA ), the victims, comprising “men, women, and children”, suffered severe injuries ranging from “abdominal ruptures to skull fractures”. The Director General of SEMA, Barkindo Muhammad Saidu, acknowledged the tragic loss of life and the seriousness of the accidents the victims suffered.
Borno State has been the epicenter of a 15-year-old, protracted Islamist insurgency spearheaded by the militant groups Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province ( ISWAP ). Despite the efforts of the Nigerian military to stifle these businesses, they continue to launch dangerous assaults on both civilians and security forces.
The authorities have not yet identified the suspects behind the most recent attacks, and Borno state police have not yet made any statements in response to the affair.
