Jill Biden, the charismatic face of the August issue of Vogue, was released early on Monday. If she was trying to make a statement about the election and the debate debacle last week, her timing could n’t have been better.

Granted, these covers are planned weeks in advance — glamour shots like DOCTOR Jill Biden’s do n’t just happen on a whim.  ,
but the brief paragraph accompanying the handle photo? That can be changed at any time, right up to release. It does n’t take any time or special skill. Anyone who has 34 hours to learn how to apply a meme machine like Imgflip ( which is my go-to, by the way ) could do it.
So there’s Psychiatrist Jill Biden on the cover of Vogue, insisting,” WE WILL DECIDE OUR FUTURE”.

Pardon me, please, if this second little sounds like I’m indulging in a small old- college Kremlinology. But, when The Most Effective Man in the World â„¢ turns out to be an elderly demi- corpse/marionette whose strings are generally held by a preening schoolteacher, at least a little aged- school Kremlinology is required.
So there are two things about that cover blurb that you ca n’t help but notice.

The first is that DOCTOR Jill Biden says that” WE” will decide. That’s curious because DOCTOR Jill Biden was n’t elected to anything. If she had wanted to make her husband — the apparent commander- in- general — appear sturdy and in command, she’d have said,” He did decide”, or, also better,” The President may decide”. Or if she wanted someone a little more genteel,” Joe will decide”.
But no. It’s” WE WILL DECIDE”.
Doctors Jill Biden wants to reaffirm to everyone that she is the one in charge and the sturdy one.

The second thing I noticed was more of a query. Jill Biden, a DOCTOR, used the imperial we, or not?  ,
As though to ensure one’s ( well- founded ) concerns, Forbes national political editor Alex Thompson noticed a later addition to Vogue’s cover story on DOCTOR Jill Biden.
Per an editor’s note at the top of the piece, Jill Biden talked to Vogue again yesterday and said: they” will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president. We will continue to fight”.

In the upcoming two or three weeks, Biden may choose to withdraw from the race. That’s enough time to determine whether big-money donors are returning. It’s time enough to put together an exit strategy.  ,
Although, to be fair, after watching Biden’s bungled Afghanistan bugout, it’s fair to ask how many corpses might be left behind if he exits the race. However, it is n’t long enough for there to be no time to decide on a replacement candidate ( by whatever means ) and give the replacement a chance to hit the ground running before the convention in Chicago on August 19 begins.
But be assured that no matter how things turn out between now and the convention, DOCTOR Jill Biden will be working the magic in our fictional Wizard of Oz.
