Donald Trump took action on Monday to defer his punishment in the midst of the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding national resistance.

Mr. Trump’s solicitors wrote to the judge overseeing the case to request permission to overturn the ruling, which came just as the Supreme Court rendered its site judgment involving one of Mr. Trump’s various legal cases, according to the New York Times. The letter wo n’t be made public until Tuesday at the earliest, when prosecutors will have a chance to respond.
The business of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced on Tuesday that it would not oppose the former US President’s punishment despite opposing the movement to reverse the hush money ruling based on immunity claims.

Trump’s sentencing is scheduled for July 11, mere times before he is set to take the Republican Party’s nomination for president. However, the defendant’s answer suggests it might be postponed by a few weeks. Trump’s lawyers requested a July 10 date to record their resistance claims, which would probably delay the punishment. Steinglass agreed to postpone the punishment until at least July 24th by agreeing to give the prosecution two more weeks to respond.

Dear Justice Merchan:
We are in receipt of defendant’s pre- motion letter dated July 1, 2024 seeking leave to file a motion to set aside the verdict pursuant to CPL § 330.30 ( 1 ) based upon the Supreme Court’s July 1, 2024 decision in Trump v. United States, 2024 WL 3237603. In that email, accused requested until July 10, 2024 to send a memo of law in support of such movement.
