New York Times columnist J. David Goodman in , a new report , accused Republicans of having” seized on” the terrible crime of Jocelyn Nungaray in order to politicize borders security.
Goodman included estimates that framed Nungaray’s reported murders as “remorseful” and criticized Texas Gov. Greg Abbott should be ashamed that young women “were raped” were n’t his concern.
The June 25 report comes after two improper aliens from Venezuela reportedly lured 12- year- ancient Nungaray under a bridge, stripped her dressed to the waist, bound her, sexually assaulted her for two hours, strangled her to death, and dumped her body into deep water outside, according to the , Houston Police Department , and , native news reports. The accused murders, Jose Pena Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Martinez- Rangel, 21, were caught and released by Border Patrol agents after improperly crossing the southwestern border this month. Both of them are facing cash crime charges.
Goodman incorrectly described the reported murders as “migrants” and gave the information that Pena regrets sexually abusing and killing a baby.  ,
” Daniel Werlinger, one of two defense attorneys appointed to signify Mr. Pena, described his client as ‘ regretful,’ saying that he’ understands the gravity of the scenario’ that he is in”, Goodman wrote. Goodman went on to criticize Republican ‘ rely on the multiple , baby rapes , and , policies-are-deadly/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>border-invasion-by-pretending-laken-riley-murder-suspect-wasnt-an-illegal-crosser/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer nopolicies-are-deadly/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>border-parole-plan-takes-illegal-immigration-to-a-whole-new-level/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>opener”>murders , that have taken place as a result of the Biden presidency ‘s , policies-are-deadly/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>border-parole-plan-takes-illegal-immigration-to-a-whole-new-level/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>open , policies-are-deadly/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>border , plans.  ,
The Times report centered Democrat political operative , Matt Angle ‘s , claim that Abbott , is not sincerely concerned over child rape but is instead using the issue for political gain.
” It’s all a functionality for them”, Angle told the Times regarding Abbott’s call for law and order. ” These guys do n’t treatment about this 12- yr- outdated or any 12- year- aged”. Angle also claimed that Texans are” not threatened” by the border crisis. His remarks stood in stark contrast to the response from Nungaray’s home.
” She was wonderful, I still see her mouth in the back of my head every morning, all day. I keep getting much evidence about her throughout the time, and it’s been a very, very difficult time for me and my home”, Nungaray’s family said in , a news event.
Goodman, still, neglected to acknowledge that even one preventable child murder is too many.
” ]D ] espite a number of high- profile cases, studies have found that migrants commit fewer crimes than legal residents”, Goodman wrote. But the report contains no information regarding the” studies” cited, and Goodman did not return a request for comment.
A , previous report , from the Times , cited data , from 1970 to 2010 that made no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants. A , report , from the Cato Institute reveals Goodman’s claim is misleading, stating, “]T] here is little data available about illegal immigrant criminality to answer this question. The majority of state governments do not record the immigration status of those who have been found guilty of crimes, and the majority of the federal census data does not identify illegal immigrants.
Goodman’s emphasis on the overall crime rate failed to address concern over specific crimes committed by people whose first-time entry into the United States was against the law. Republicans , continue to argue , these crimes are inherently preventable and Nungaray would not be dead if her killers had been detained by Border Patrol.
” Every single crime committed by an illegal alien invader is preventable”, former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security , Ken Cuccinelli , said in a , recent statement , to Congress. ” Crime rates do not matter. Only the number of crimes as a whole and the harm that those crimes cause matter. Since Joe Biden became our president and opened our borders, there have been more than 10 million illegal alien invaders entering America.
Cuccinelli continued,” ]I ] t is the individual human cost that remains most alarming. The ever- growing number of American victims of illegal immigration, including , Brandon Michael,  , Kate Steinle,  , Mollie Tibbetts,  , Sarah Root,  , Brandon Mendoza,  , Ronald da Silva,  , Kayla Hamilton, and, of course,  , Laken Riley. These human casualties can be avoided with a secure border.
