President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the progress being made in negotiating a peace in Gaza during a telephone call on Thursday, according to the White House.
Vice President Kamala Harris was present at the lowest level in Biden’s term in office, with the president fighting to keep the aid of Democratic energy people following his subpar performance in the first presidential debate in 2024, according to multiple reports.
The White House did not confirm Harris’s involvement in the phone, but Fox News reported that Harris frequently takes part in the government’s calling with his Israeli counterpart, joining more than 20 such meetings since the Oct. 7 problems by Hamas.
Senior White House officials gave reporters a briefing on the details of the call on Thursday afternoon, particularly how Biden and Netanyahu managed to get through a” critical impasse” in Hamas ‘ most recent ceasefire proposal.
The White House sounded positive about an Israelis ‘ “pretty major opening” toward a ceasefire model. Despite the senator giving the full support of the United States to Israel’s initial attempts to eject Hamas from Gaza, tensions have increased between Biden and Netanyahu in recent days.
Netanyahu alleged that the Biden administration had stopped all arms supplies to Israel in June, a claim that the White House strongly refuted. In an effort to halt the Israeli Defense Forces ‘ abuse on Rafah, Hamas’s final redoubt in the area, and reduce civilian casualties, Biden did wait one ordnance shipment to Israel. Additionally, the two leaders have made contradictory remarks regarding efforts to broker a protracted peace between Israel and Hamas.
Following week’s NATO summit in Washington, D.C., Biden is expected to have more discussions with European leaders regarding the most recent proposal.
