
According to charging documents released late on Thursday, a bag of clothes and a pair of shoes that were turned over by relatives people last year served as important pieces of evidence that led law enforcement to name Victor Antonio Martinez- Hernandez as the believe in Rachel Morin’s death.
The papers also detail how Martinez- Hernandez lived in Maryland until next month as DNA testing later assisted law enforcement in finding his family members.
On Aug. 6, the day after she was reported missing, officials located Morin’s system off the Ma &, Pa Historic Trail in Bel Air with evidence that she had been beaten to death and sexually assaulted, according to the charging files. Genetic material was recovered from the crime scene, analyzed, and a possible suspect’s relative was found.
On June 13, investigators conducted an investigation into Martinez- Hernandez’s relationship with his home in Maryland from December 2023 until the start of May, when he left and always came back. Maryland State Police compared and compared the DNA recovered from the murder scene to the two bags of clothes and a pair of shoes that the household turned around. The next day an arrest warrant was issued in Harford County, and Martinez- Hernandez was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
Martinez- Hernandez , arrived in Maryland on Thursday  , after waiving his proper to challenge extradition. He is charged with primary- and next- degree murder, rape and assault. Officials believe Martinez-Hernandez killed a woman in El Salvador in January 2023 before entering the country without authorization.
Although online court records have not yet been released, Martinez-Hernández is scheduled to appear in court on Friday for a loan evaluation reading.
