” Test this, it’s disgusting”.
I’ve heard that cliche so many times in my life, most frequently at middle-school nights, when buddies were inviting me to try expired Mountain Dew or Mountain Dew mingled with Tang. In” Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot,” I did n’t anticipate hearing it repeatedly. Yet I did.
The most recent movie from Angel Studios, a Christian manufacturing business,” Audio of Hope,” tells the true story of Rev. W. C. Martin and his family, Donna, who inspired many people in their little town of Possum Trot, Texas, to be foster kids to the city’s hardest-to-place kids. The movie focuses primarily on the tender tenacity that W. C. and Donna exhibit in their foster children, especially their disturbed teenage daughter Terri. The end result is a video that is heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, and, regrettably, about as dreary as Angel Studios ‘ past generation” Noise of Freedom”.
Given its content matter, one is accept” Sound of Freedom” for being a somewhat dreary video. There was never much space for laughter or humor in the tale of a guy who traveled through South America’s jungles to save young sex slaves. But foster care is n’t human trafficking. It has been a pleasure to watch it for more than ten years, and I may safely say that it brings you much more smiles than sorrows. Speaking for myself and another foster families I know, it’s about an 80/20 combination of deep joy and tremendous hardship.
Yes, there are times when you tremble and feel overwhelmed by loss. But the majority of time are incredibly joyful. Most times involve kisses and snuggles. Most time feature times when you are blessed to witness your natural children treating the creates as their own flesh and blood rather than as an aggressive varieties robbing them of Mom and Dad’s interest. Yes, there are times when you experience a sense of battle. But the majority of the days offer opportunities to appreciate how effectively you are providing desire to the previously desperate and a home to the previously poor.
But” Sound of Hope,” a movie that only succeeds in making superheroes out of its lead characters by portraying foster care as hell-on-earth, does n’t give you that impression. Look at the unstoppable personal agony that this causes a brave and inspiring Donna Martin! Glance at how frequently she sat down in pain. Look how numerous times a day she needed her community to hand her a hand and, through the magical power of prayer, to recover her! Look how she was just able to find pleasure in fostering at the movie’s conclusion, after decades of enduring the soldier’s battle! My goodness, this film is as bleak as” Schindler’s List”! That may imply that foster care is just as challenging as a focus station. Just the strongest and most skilled individuals could take that away!
The show’s producers therefore ask us to test it after two days of telling audiences that foster treatment is the most repulsive thing on Earth. In keeping with the history it established with” Sound of Freedom,”” Sound of Hope” features a post-credits plea to fight the good fight against the political evil that people have really come to terms with. Come join the conversation as the actual W. C. and Donna Martin make an appearance this day, asking viewers to decide what to do after being informed. Create a world where every child has a house. Buy a ticket so that those who ca n’t afford one can experience the disgusting practice of fostering.
It’s difficult to overstate the detrimental effect of this. When you talk to people about fostering, you’ll discover that the majority of people do n’t want to pursue it because they are unaware of the need or unmoved by the situation of struggling children. It’s because they do n’t believe they’re strong enough to do it. They need to spend two hours sludging through a dull movie that essentially encapsulates the message,” This is the hardest and bleakest thing in the world, and only the strongest people on Earth will find it rewarding,”
The fact that” Sound of Hope” is a religiously explicit movie is the great tragedy of all. The Martins ‘ Christian faith is at the core of their history. But the film’s artists, director, and maker seem to have embraced the deeply un-Christian thought that sadness is among the fruit of the Spirit. If you have genuine belief in the One who will one day rescue you from this world of pain, it means you are extremely sad about the things you see around the world. You are more determined to rejecting evil the more certain you are that you are living in the most wicked era in human history. The more prepared you are to stare into dark, desperate depictions of anguish, the more devoted you are to the Lord who did n’t make suffering.  ,
So let the lost keep their videos, like 2019’s” Instant Family”, that make fostering seem joyful and probable for mere humans. You must first demonstrate your worth by devouring two periods of vile bitterness if you want to taste the sweetness of desire.
But pleasure is not a potential incentive reserved for only the most loving, amazing, and extraordinary of Christians. People who have been born again into the family of God are now a current indigent. All Christians should have a sense of happiness, as Jesus clearly demonstrated in John 15. And if the disciples ‘ joy can be full even as they watch their Lord betrayed, arrested, crucified, and killed, Christians wo n’t have to wait for the Day of Judgment to experience joy from a vocation that is already about 80 percent joyful.
To be a good foster parent, you do n’t have to be the most amazing, inspiring person on Earth. You just have to acknowledge that Jesus welcomed you into his family when you were childless, and that you can now show that love to those who God gives you by doing the same in your home. You do n’t need to run daily marathons where you’re pelted with agony and sorrow every step of the way to be a strong foster parent. You just need to have faith in God that He will give you both the strength and wisdom to deal with the occasional bouts of suffering. You do n’t need to adopt your child into someone who never gives you pain or anxiety to be a successful foster parent. He needs only to turn his attention to Jesus, the One who has a promise to cure everyone’s wounds, and the One who has sworn to do so.
When you develop, there will be more glances than weeping. You can also weep with happiness because Jesus Christ has already slashed the lord who is attempting to despair your and your child’s hearts. And the more you introduce your kids to the devil-crushing Word of God, the more they will be able to feel the beauty of God’s defeat as they laugh at Satan’s futile attempt to rob them of the success and the pleasure that has already come their way.  ,
