Canada has been abstaining from its NATO defence spending commitments for more than ten years, which is causing friends to become more and more frustrated. Ottawa has never met its regional military saving goals or invested enough in new equipment, making Canada an outsider in the alliance despite being a powerful partner in different areas. A nonpartisan group of 23 US lawmakers wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to express their sorrow, according to a Politico statement, urging Canada to fulfill its obligations.
