US President Joe Biden made an embarrassing gaffe at the Nato summit in Washington, according to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( Nato ).
President Biden made a significant error by falsely introducing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Russian President Vladimir Putin during the press event.
Biden inadvertently said,” And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has perseverance, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin“.
Although Biden immediately corrected himself, writers swiftly captured the moment and asked about the same.
The Nato came out in his defense and said that this was only a” slip of mouth” in response to concerns about a gaffe made by the US leader.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz defended US President Biden and said,” Slip of lips happen, and if you always check somebody, you will find plenty of them”, Scholz said. However, this does not alter anything that the US president pretty plainly said in his speech.
French President Emmanuel Macron even supported the US senator and said that the slip of tongue occurs after the German chancellor.
We all slip up often,” Macron said”. It’s happened to me and it could occur again later. I do ask for your enjoyment,” Reuters reported.
Macron added that the US senator was “in demand” and “on top of things” at a summit with other leaders in Washington.
” I was able to communicate with President Biden at length monday at meal,” Macron told writers”. I always thought the senator was in command and on point about the issues he is familiar with.
Before the mountain squabble, recently elected UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also claimed that the two friends covered a lot of ground in the Oval Office for nearly an hour, which was longer than expected, and that the claims against Biden were misguided.
” We did it at speed. He was on good kind,” Starmer told British press, according to the Reuters.
There is no denying that everything is ok, according to Polish President Andrzej Duda, who had forged close relations with US President Donald Trump but has appreciated Biden’s support for Ukraine.
Scandinavian President Alexander Stubb, asked if he had worries about the United States, said that in democracies it is” often turmoil before votes.”
” I do n’t care how well the current president of the United States can lead his country, lead our fight against Ukraine, and lead NATO,” he said.
” The only thing I’m worried about is that the political climate in the United States right now is too toxic, is very polarized, and that does n’t leave enough room for a civilized and constructive debate “on policy, he told reporters.
