LONDON: British police arrested a man on Saturday in connection with the discovery of human remains in two suitcases at a famous bridge in western England last week.
The 24-year-old was arrested in Bristol, where the bodies were found on the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and will be taken to London for questioning after in the day, the city’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
Police said on Friday that the remains of two grownup men were found and that the principal suspect had traveled from London with the bags.
Police have reported hearing reports of a person carrying a backpack acting strangely on the bridge just before midnight on Wednesday. A second backpack was discovered close by.
They stated on Saturday that investigations were continuing, but they were not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Officers did remain in the… places over the upcoming days to convince those affected by this tragic incident because we understand the concerns of local areas in both Bristol and London, according to deputy assistant director Andy Valentine.
