The death of Hamas ‘ best military chief, Muhammad Deif, remained uncertain following a massive Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip, as per a New York Times statement. The effects of the assault on the continuous cease-fire discussions was likewise undetermined.
But, the Israeli military and Shin Bet safety agency confirmed that another goal, Rafa Salameh, the head of Hamas troops in Khan Younis, had been killed in the attack. According to Jewish defense officials, the attack came after weeks of surveillance of a surprise Salameh compound.
Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu has also acknowledged that there was” no certainty” that Deif had been killed.
Deif and Salama were targeted by the Israeli army in” an empty place” that was” hardly a tent advanced, but an operational compound,” according to the Jewish military’s statement on Saturday.
The Gaza health department reported that at least 90 folks, including women and children, were killed in the attack, with 300 wounded. The flood of wounded Palestinians apparently left over 300 clinics in Gaza.
There is no “absolute surety” regarding Deif’s death, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a streamed news conference. A Hamas standard, Khalil al-Hayya, said in an exam that Deif was still intact, but the team has not provided evidence to support this claim.
Deif is the second most senior Hamas number in the area after Yahya Sinwar, who is regarded as one of the engineers of the attack on October 7 that sparked the continuing war in Gaza. Salameh was referred to by Israeli officials as a close friend of Deif and a key figure in the planning of the September 7 harm.
After extensive study and indications that Deif may be present, Salameh’s compound’s hit was authorized. At least five precision-guided bombs were dropped by Israeli fighter jets during the invasion.
Cease-fire conversations, which had been stalled, had just resumed via US and Arab intermediaries. The negotiations sought to trade the about 120 hostages that were still left in Gaza for Israeli prisoners. A Hamas social ministry member denied reports that the organization had decided to end negotiations, despite the uncertainty surrounding the attack’s impact on the discussions.
Hamas did not discuss Deif or Salameh’s tragedy in a statement that the Israelis had “massacre” intent on a region where hundreds of Palestinians had displaced themselves. Netanyahu claimed that Israeli security personnel had assured him that the strike’s location had no captives.
Experts believe that despite a possible delay in cease-fire negotiations, Hamas ‘ essential interest in a package remains intact. Hamas has been physically pushed into a corner physically after nine months of fight because of the growing Jewish military pressure on the organization.
